5 Ideas to Create a Cosy Seating Spot with a Chaise Lounge

What is the one piece of furniture that can serve different purposes in your home and add to its style as well? Yes – you guessed it right – it is the chaise lounge! This is one piece you can splurge on; you can use this multifunctional piece for different areas of your home.

Here are a few ideas that may be of help for you to use the chaise lounge in your home.

Idea 1: Place it in the living room for additional seating. If you have an open living area, create a mix and match of a sofa, chairs and a recliner for seating. With such a layout, this piece may be used for additional seating when there are a large number of guests.

If you have a long, narrow living room, you may opt for a layout with two conversation areas. Place a backless chaise lounge in the middle of this setting to create an open feel and distinguish the two areas.

Idea 2: Create a nook in a corner next to a window or the bookshelf. If there is a large window adjacent to the kitchen area, place the chaise next to it to create a pleasant breakfast nook for casual meals.

If you have a big bookshelf, place a vintage daybed against the nearby corner. Put comfortable throw pillows and a reading light to complete the setting of a great reading nook; this will be the perfect place to curl up with your favourite book.

Idea 3: Put it in the bedroom for a cosy seating space. If you have a big bedroom, with lots of space even after you have placed a huge bed, nightstands and dresser, a chaise may be the right addition for the room.

This piece provides the ideal spot to sip your morning cup of tea or check your correspondence. If possible, place the recliner next to a window that commands a view of the outdoors to enhance the feel.

Idea 4: Make it the highlight of a room or keep it neutral. If you need the piece to be the focus of the living room, you may opt for a piece with an unusual shape. You may also reupholster a chaise lounge in a patterned fabric to create this focal point.

However, if you want the chaise to fit in the different schemes of the different spaces of your home, it is better to stick to a neutral hue. You may add a dash of colour with bright throws or pillows.

Idea 5: Produce the masculine look or the feminine touch with the right design. Opt for a knoll recliner in metal and leather to enhance the masculine appeal in the den for the man of the house.

On the other hand, if you want to add a little hint of femininity in the home office, choose a traditional daybed upholstered with fabrics in soft, creamy pinks or peaches. You may also achieve an eclectic feel with a patterned fabric cover over the recliner.

A little planning can offer a lot of options to add this piece to your home decor scheme.
